At MD-RX Telehealth Solutions, LLC, we’re committed to advancing the next generation of healthcare professionals through hands-on, innovative remote learning opportunities. Our 4–8 week Telepharmacy Rotations are designed for both pharmacy and medical students, offering immersive exposure to clinical pharmacy and telemedicine services in a real-time virtual care environment.

What Are Telepharmacy Rotations?

Telepharmacy rotations are structured educational experiences that allow students to engage in clinical pharmacy services remotely, under the mentorship of experienced clinical pharmacists. These rotations are tailored to simulate and support inpatient and outpatient pharmacy functions, stewardship programs, and consult services — all delivered through HIPAA-compliant technology platforms.

Available Rotations

Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE)

For early-year pharmacy students, our IPPE rotation focuses on foundational knowledge and exposure to real-world pharmacy workflow, including:

- - Basics of inpatient order verification
  - Medication safety principles
  - Introduction to formulary review
  - Drug information research and response
  - Exposure to documentation and interventions
  - Understanding remote pharmacy systems & compliance

Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE)

Our APPE rotation is designed for final-year PharmD students seeking advanced clinical practice and decision-making skills. Rotations may include:

Comprehensive medication reviews (CMRs)
Pharmacokinetics dosing (Vancomycin, Aminoglycosides)
Participation in clinical interventions & stewardship
Daily virtual patient rounds (when applicable)
Collaborative case discussions
Exposure to anticoagulation, renal dosing, pain management
Discharge counseling and transitions of care support

Students are expected to participate in case presentations, topic discussions, and daily documentation exercises under licensed preceptor supervision.

Rotation Format & Requirements

Duration: 4–8 weeks

- Mode: 100% Remote
- Preceptors: Licensed Clinical Pharmacists with extensive inpatient & telepharmacy experience
- Technology Used: Secure EMR access, communication platforms, clinical documentation systems
- Eligibility:
  - IPPE: P1–P2 Pharmacy Students
  - APPE: P4 PharmD Candidates
  - Also available to medical students in coordination with their school
- Affiliation: Must be coordinated through an affiliated university or program agreement
